FARMERSVILLE free to all rave run

Home

The course: An 8.4 mile (measured by car odometer) counter-clockwise loop through Brownstowm, Farmersville, Fairmount...

Directions to start: From rte. 222 exit at Brownstown head east on rte 772. At light in B-town square (State & Main) turn left onto E. Main St. and continue for approx. 3/4 mile, continuing straight at the Yield sign by the stone bridge. Crest the hill; and immediately at the bottom of the hill, pull into parking area on right.

Highlights: Notice the beautifully restored mill near the start of the course. Originally a grist mill, it was converted, in the mid 20th C, to a textile mill. The mill manufactured woolen cloth from wool shorn from sheep that were raised on the property. Also, neighboring the mill, are two strangely out of place Victorian homes with, even stranger: widows' walks. Along the route you'll also be treated to panoramic views of the surrounding farmland and the Conestoga River plain.

Notable: Much of the course follows Farmersville Road. To the best of my knowlege, this is the only road in Lancaster County that runs both E-W and N-S...a feature that's confused many a hapless, wayward Sunday driver.

COURSE DIRECTIONS:
Turn LEFT out of the parking area, up the hill and LEFT again, across the stone bridge on W. Farmersville Rd.

Bear LEFT at the fork (about .4 miles) and continue on W. farmersville.

At mile 2.4 cross the intersection of the two Farmersville Roads, continue straight on E. Farmersville Rd.

Turn LEFT on Cats Back Road a.k.a. Katze Boucle Weeg (3.3 miles)

Bear LEFT again at convergence of Goods Rd. and cross the covered bridge onto Cider Mill Rd.

Bear LEFT at the T onto Peach Rd. a.k.a. Pearshing Weeg.

!!Make sure to follow next bend to the RIGHT--do not continue down the farmer's driveway at the one-room schoolhouse!!

At mile 5.1 turn LEFT onto Metzler Rd.--do not cross by-pass!

At 6.3 miles turn LEFT onto N. Farmersville Rd., continuing on to a stone bridge.

Turn RIGHT at the bridge onto Turtle Hill Road.

Follow Turtle Hill Road, turning LEFT at the T intersection at Snyder Rd. Continue about .3 miles back to the parking area.
