Amos Herr 5K Honey Run Sunday nite race held in Landisville. Benefits hist. house, sponsored by Honey Company. Cash payout usually gets the local ringers.
Baltimore Fila 5k same day as and close to the Balto-marathon. Can run the run and have fun till wee hours on Sun.
Bull Run Run 50 Mile Trail Run, Manassas, Virginia Usually held in mid April, this ultra is a fave among Lancaster, Reading & Harrisburg runners. Harry Smith has done them all.
US Summer Biathlon - Vernon NJ
Baltimore Marathon Great Saturday (not Sunday) marathon in early October. Being on Sat allows one to play after the race.
Capon Valley 50K - Nice 50K in West Virginia yields pretty quick times.
Catawba An ultra held somewhere in Virginia Chambersburg Half Marathon. Held in March, good value, good time. Steve Spence sitings not uncommon. Charlie Horse 20K Trail Race - Held in Berks County, starts near French Creek st. park, ends at a real roadhouse in Plowville,
ChesapeakeMan Ironman Triathlon Iron man companion to Eagleman half, held in Cambridge MD.
Elizabethtown Twilight Trot. Great race that's been held for many years. Starts and finishes at the high school, kicks off the fair. Anne Daniel knows how to play bingo.
Escarpment 30K Trail Run, Palenville, New York. The legendary trail race that so many from this area go to. Held later July in the Catskills.
God's Country Marathon 26.2 in the land of the deer. Sil loves this more than any other race around. Race went on even after the Adelphia crooks were kicked out. Note to attorneys: don't throw anything out the bus window. You'll hold up the race, so get it together.

Great Floridian Ironman Great Ironman in Clermont Fl (25 mi from mouseland) Greg Foster did it 3 times, Karen Shiley did in 2003.
Half Wit Half Marathon Put on by our RAT/Pagoda Pacer friends in Reading. Held in August - A Ron Horn production
Hinte Anderson Trail Run 50K (HAT Run) Lotsa of people point to the HAT run as their first ultra. Also one of the closest ultras (northern MD) around. HUMP Run - Put on by friendly TrailDawgs in DE, run perimeter of a few parks in tri state area. JFK 50 Mile close to Hagerstown, MD. One of the largest and most competitive ultras in the US. Huybert G ran a sub 7 in '00. Laurel Highlands 70 Mile Trail Run Ohiopyle to Johnstown. Karen won in '01 and Marcia won in '03. Pure trail.

Masanutten Mountain 100 Mile 100 mile race near Front Royal, VA. The "toughest 100 east of the Mississipi". Unforgiving trail all the way to mile 98. |
LRRC Specific Event Pictures LRRC Fun Runs LRRC's flagship weekly event. Weddings have been rescheduled, major plans interrupted, contracts amended to allow attendance all because of fun runs. These are the events people don't miss. LRRC Eye Opener Annual New Years run at the County Park in Lancaster. Usually has the highest turn out of all LRRC oriented fun runs. LRRC Fowl Run Annual TDay morning fun run, elections and door prize extravaganza. Brickyard Nite Run LRRC Buzzards Marathon (LRRC Event sort of but not sanctioned!) Fat Ass usually held 2 wks before HAT run. Great hills, high views, far away from a lotta places, no suburbs in site. Thoroughbred = official after race headquarters. Chiques training run Central Market Training Run LRRC Conestoga Nite Run A real run on a real trail that's not Gretna.

Huge trail run tradition. Excellent for the whole family to come watch and spend a sunday together with dear old muddy dad. LRRC Mrs. Smith's Challenge One of the few all/only female trail races in the country. LRRC's flagship female event.
LRRC Conestoga Trail Run Excellent 10 mile trail run held in the rolling river hills of southwestern Lancaster County. No suburbs remotely close.

Millersville Mile Held in May, right down the main Millersville street past the George Street cafe. RD's are members Judy & Ralph Antonnen. 1997, 2002 Photos Mt. Penn Mudfest Always the Saturday of Easter weekend. A real fave of the LRRC. Chances to win godiva, beer stop at mile 9 and yeah a race. New York City Marathon 1 of the biggest marathons around. Good luck if you're trying to race it. A good race to enjoy all that is the big apple. PIAA High School State Championships Have been held in State College & Hershey (most recently Hershey) Penn Relays Marathon. One for the old timers.
Race Against Racism (YWCA) Lancaster's largest 5K. Attracts very fast people from other continents. Winner gets $100 per Keelometer. Word to the vice chair directors/career climbers that sit on all those committees and refer to themselves as wise: spend something on a website.
Rattlesnake 50K, Charleston, West Virginia. Held Saturday after 4th of July. Another summer fave for the ultraset. West VA brewing's on the way home. Red Rose Run 5 mile. Lancaster PA Held in late May or early June The old classic, biggest 5 mile race in the county. Bill Smith's done 'em all through 2004. Reamstown Run - 5 mile race in Reamstown, place where a Microbrewery may or may not open but ok if not cuz Stoudt's not far.

Mikey B went to check out 2002 Photos – Races "travelled to" - overall page SlackerBoy Triathlon Directed by SlackerBoy Brewing and Captain Numbnuts. Held every August Stumpy's Trail Marathon put on by the TrailDawgs in DE. Great event on the way to the beach or Iron Hill.
Steamtown Marathon Great midsize marathon in Scranton. Dan Petley ran a sub 3 in '03 keepin a really long streak alive and well. 2003 Photos Sykesville Triathlon Marc Buckwalter did it in 2003
Trail Dawgs Fat Ass 50K Low key 50K in Delaware, somewhere close to Newark. Put on by the real cool Traildawgs/Ultradawgs Turkey Hill Country Classic 5 & 10K's Excellent local races put on by the tea people and Manor Twp Vermont City Marathon Connie and Marc B took the trip in '02.
VHTRC Fat Ass Held each holiday season by our friends from Virginia 50K on the Bull Run Run course. Wilkes Barre Triathlon Great tri held in August at Harvey's Lake, near Wilkes Barre, PA.

Wineglass Marathon Corning, NY held in early October. Lancaster city could get a good lesson from Corning in how to use floors above street level for uses other than police offices.
Women's Distance Classic Half Marathon Usually held in September, Northern VA put on by the VHTRC. One of the few chic only races around.
YMCA Speedwell Forge Triathlon. Lancaster county's only triathlon. Not exceedingly expensive like some, weather's always perfect; a local fave. |
